Applications are now Closed for the 2019 North Metro Honor Jazz Band Program.
Check back soon for our 2020 season.
We're excited to announce a North Metro Honor Jazz Band Program starting on Tuesday, March 19, 2019. This band is open to all musicians high school age or younger in the greater Twin Cities area. The instrumentation will be that of a traditional jazz big band - saxophones (alto, tenor, bari), trombones, trumpets, piano, bass, drums, and guitar. We’ll rehearse each Tuesday from 6:30 - 8:30 PM for 9 weeks starting March 19 at Spring Lake Park High School, play one concert, and record a CD in a professional studio.
CD Recording Date - To be determined.
Application - While it is open to students from all over the Twin Cities area, the intent of this band is to offer musicians in the North and West Metro areas a convenient opportunity to meet musicians from other schools, rehearse together, perform and produce a CD. Students can apply by filling out and mailing in or emailing an application.
Auditions - If we have more applicants than we can accommodate, we'll contact students by early March to schedule a short audition.
Fees - There will be a $200 fee for participation. Scholarship money is available in case of financial need.
Rehearsals (Tuesdays) - March 19, 26; April 2, 9, 16, 23, 30; May 7, 14; at Spring Lake Park High School.
Concert Date - Tuesday, May 21, 6:30 PM, Famous Dave’s restaurant in Calhoun Square, Minneapolis.
